Author Spotlight: Meet Stuart Wilson!

Introducing the brilliant mind behind The 113th Assistant Librarian, Stuart Wilson. We asked Stuart some fun, behind-the-scenes questions so you can get to know the person behind the pages.

Here's what he had to say…

  • What made you want to become a writer?

It's much the same as reading, for me: I want to know how the story ends! When I see an interesting book, I want to read it to know what happens. When I have an interesting idea for a story, I also want to know how the story will end. It's honestly what fuels me to write!

  • Do you have any weird or funny writing habits (like needing a certain snack or only writing in your socks)?

I usually listen to music when I write - instrumental, for the most part (lyrics are distracting) but when I am desperate to finish my writing goal for the day, and the time is running out, I select something high tempo (if it speeds up, even better!) so that I force myself to write faster.

  • What's one fun fact about you that most people don't know?

I once literally walked over hot coals. It was a science club thing about heat transference. (It was supervised by experts! Don't try this at home!) The key is not to run, because you risk breaking open the coals!

  • If you could hang out with any author (alive or from the past), who would it be, and what would you do together?

Probably Terry Pratchett. I didn't get to meet him when he was alive, and I have two entire shelves devoted to first editions of his books! If he let me, I would inundate him with questions about his publishing journey...

  • What's one thing you hope readers remember about The 113th Assistant Librarian?

The power of books! They're both a mirror (they tell us something about ourselves) and a window (they show us the lives of others).

Thanks, Stuart!

We loved getting a peek into Stuart's world and hearing about his writing journey. If The 113th Assistant Librarian has sparked your love of books, remember—your next great adventure could be just one page away. Stay curious, keep reading, and maybe one day, we'll be shining a spotlight on you!
