Joel McKerrow’s Book Recommendations
We couldn’t chat with Joel McKerrow without asking him to share some of his favourite books for young readers! From cosy adventures to epic journeys full of imagination, here are Joel’s top picks to spark curiosity and wonder in any young reader…
1. How to Sail to Somewhere by Ashleigh Barton
This is the most recent children’s book I’ve read with my own kids, and it immediately drew me in. It’s a beautiful story that wraps you up in a warm, cosy blanket of friendship, discovery, and the kind of gentle adventure that stays with you long after the final page.
2. Neverlanders by Tom Taylor and Jon Sommariva
One of my favourite graphic novels, this is a stunning reimagining of the Peter Pan story. The art is incredible, and the story itself is full of heart, adventure, and a sense of wonder that will captivate young readers (and grown-ups too!).
3. His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
Beginning with the Golden Compass. This series was a huge part of my reading life growing up. I LOVED the fantastical universe and the adventure of it all.
What Will You Read Next?
A big thanks to Joel for sharing these personal favourites! Have you read any of these? They might be your next adventure into new worlds and unforgettable stories.
